THE WASI FIELD GUIDE FOR IDENTIFYING FISH

A simple guide to identify the common species of fish that you are likely to encounter in the rivers of Karnataka state in India. We urge you to spend some time familiarising yourself with these species. The practice of documenting fish details helps greatly in gathering data for research and conservation.

* We graciously thank Barbara van der Ven, MSc. Student of fisheries and aquaculture, Wageningen University for her assistance in creating this reference guide for us to build on in the future

BEST PRACTICES IN CATCH AND RELEASE ANGLING

Globally, angling is not just a recreational activity but a conservation strategy by itself. We encourage all Indian anglers to strictly follow the Angling Best Practices listed in this document, to minimise our impact on the environment, fish populations and local communities.
